Story Telling with Anand Sivakumaran

Who doesn't like a good story? And sometimes, we like to tell our own. How about a combination of the two?

An evening of listening to stories that you start off, by giving a line, a situation, a word, a genre - say you ask for a thriller that revolves around coffee. or a love story that involves yellow polka dot bikinis. Ask and ye shall get - a freshly cooked, improvised, made up story - never been written or told before. The key ingredient is you - you catalysed this story.

And to make the evening even more interesting - the story keeps changing, morphing, thanks to additional triggers and inputs from the rest of the audience. So the coffee centric thriller could have a supernatural middle region involving orange umbrellas, courtesy another audience member.

The most fun part is nobody knows what's going to happen, not even the narrator!

Anand Sivakumaran has been telling stories since he was 5. He's written movies like Kalyug, created TV shows like Sadda Haq, The Buddy Project and Miley Jab Hum Tum. While his book Natasha Mehra Must Die awaits publication, Anand currently runs CrocTales, a creative shop making web series and scripts for film and TV. He loves teaching, writing and talking. When he shuts up, he makes great sangria and coffee.
